Autoquartz and kinetic watches

An autoquartz watch combines the precision of a quartz watch with the durable powersource of an automatic watch. Autoquartz watches contain a hybrid movement; Like with a regular automatic watch, the power source is mechanical and winds itself by the movements of its wearer. The time mechanism of the movement however is quartz. Hence the name 'Autoquartz'. The terms Autoquartz and Kinetic are used interchangeably, but this is not entirely correct. 'Autoquartz' is the collective name for all watches that contain this type of movement. 'Kinetic' is the brand name used for Seiko autoquartz watches.
